- The story of this game was unquestionably Logan Couture. He (along with Ryane Clowe and Patrick Marleau) was hard-matched against the Kopitar line by Todd McLellan and schooled one of the best two-way centers in the world. Couture was a ridiculous 7-1 in chances at even strength (7-0 5v5 with an additional chance against 4v4) as that line dominated possession against the Kings’ top five-man unit with the exception of a few shifts early in the third period that failed to result in anything in the way of a dangerous chance for the Kings.
- Vlasic deserves a ton of credit for his play behind the Couture line as well. He was also terrific on the penalty kill with zero chances against in nearly two minutes of shorthanded ice time.
- The Sharks held Los Angeles to just one scoring chance in the third period. Definitely one of the team’s best all-around efforts of the season.
